Up to 18m notices to be sent

HMRC will be issuing annual coding notices forms P2 for 2012/13 from January to March 2012.  The department is planning to send between 17 million and 18 million notices.

Co-enveloping notices of coding (placing two P2s in one envelope) will continue where a taxpayer is due to receive more than one form. HMRC believe this means that about 96% of taxpayers will receive one envelope.

Tax advisers should note that HMRC no longer send copy notices of coding to them.Tax codes on the way
