Hu Macnair

We have learned that Hubert ‘Hu’ Macnair has died. He was a valued and longstanding contributor to Taxation, writing articles, letters and replies to readers’ queries for many years.

Student loans

Revised guidance has been published for pension payers who pay occupational pensions to individuals who are repaying a student loan.

TIEA

Tax information exchange agreements between the UK and Domenica and the UK and Aruba entered into force on 23 December 2011 and 1 January 2012 respectively.

Finance Bill

HM Treasury has announced that the Finance Bill will be published on Thursday 29 March.

R&D guidance

An updated version of Your research, our support – research and development tax relief in Northern Ireland has been published .

Pensions returns

The deadline for submitting registered pension scheme returns and event reports for the 2010/11 tax year is 31 January 2012. These returns and reports must be sent to Pension Schemes Services, using HMRC’s pension schemes online.
