I had the pleasure of attending the CIOT annual drinks soiree last night ...

... smelled like eggs ...

... surly Frenchman ...

... speculating about his links to the Mafia ...

... "I imagined you'd be bald" ...

...  an awfully good joke about a necktie ...

... really tiny fish 'n' chips...

... didn't realise he was Lord Howe.

I have to admit that, by the end of the night, I was very, etc.
