It looks like Radio 4 wasn't the only place Revenue poster-boy Adam Hart-Davis disappointed his paymasters recently.
He also appeared on Radio Five Live to complain that the UK's tax system is way too complicated.
But the bespectacled Victoriana enthusiast is unlikely to lose his job as HMRC's TV-historian spokesperson.
One can hardly imagine David Starkey abseiling down the side of tall building while encouraging viewers to submit their tax returns on time.
