Just sitting here having a cuppa and reading HMRC’s staff magazine, Pulse. It’s all good stuff. ‘Lifestyles of the rich and infamous’ warns us against missing trader fraud. Later on, Dave Hartnett warns that ‘people may be tempted to be dishonest in their tax affairs’ during a recession. And someone (I've withheld his name in case his wife is reading this) wants to take a sentimental journey to a tax office ‘somewhere in the London area’. Why? Well apparently, before she was a ‘glamour model, actress and ice skater’ (and a ‘legend in lingerie' according to the Daily Mail) Linda Lusardi (the ‘queen of Page 3’) worked for the Inland Revenue. As the Mail puts it: ‘She was 16 and working in her local tax office when she was spotted at a bus stop and asked if she had ever considered modelling.’ I did some modelling once, but that glue got everywhere!
