First, the Chancellor's VAT reduction comes into effect in the run-up to Christmas.
A couple of days later it kicks off at a hilariously shoddy festive theme park in Dorset, where frustrated visitors duff up Santa and three of his elves.
Then the place's boss turns out to have previous for... wait for it... VAT evasion.
It's almost as if someone up there likes the tabloids.
The frivolous item is not, of course, the sort of higher-brow tax-related story found in Taxation's weekly briefing of news from the nationals and our own website.
The Friday e-bulletin is free to anyone who emails taxation@lexisnexis.co.uk and puts NEWS BRIEFING in the subject line.

Return to the serious-minded (usually) Taxation.co.uk.
