Even a few of the most self-assured among us will likely be taking personally Alistair Darling's forthcoming changes to the nation's tax regime.
The major, controversial reforms of capital gains tax, income shifting and non-domicile status rules will, I suspect, have caused some people to believe - if only briefly - that the Chancellor is out to get them.
I for one have suffered my own moments of paranoia.
My reasons have little do with taxes and finances, and almost everything to do with being a timourous student.
It's indimitating enough to have such hefty amounts of material through which to wade in order to attain a couple of ATT qualifications.
The realisation that following my exams, which are based on the 2007-08 tax year, I'll have lots of new legislation and figures to learn only serves to exasperate my nervousness.
In fact, I'm close to becoming convinced that there's an enormous pair of murderous black eyebrows lurking always just out of my line of vision.
