So nice to see those well-known lovers of Italian culture – sorry, do I mean couture? – Wayne and Coleen tying the knot on the Italian Riviera. When I say ‘see’, glimpse is probably more to the point as to see the wedding pics means that I will have to fork out £2.50 (unlikely) for a copy of OK! magazine, which has reportedly paid £2.5 million – although exactly for what is what is taxing my brain at the moment. It's said that OK! has paid half the cost of the £5 million wedding (now that’s got to bump up the average cost of nuptials this year I would think), but did that go direct to the suppliers or the groom? If the former, can OK! recover the VAT and presumably its deductible from the magazine’s income? Or did it go to the bride and groom? And if so have they sold something, image rights perhaps? And I would guess that Wayne at least must have already received income from that source so ‘badges of a trade’. Or is it a capital transaction? Perhaps they should have taken some advice from the man who married them in Santa Margherita Ligure. After the marriage, Signore Gianni Costa, the mayor who performed the ceremony, was apparently asked what material the bride’s dress was made from. ‘How would I know? I’m not a tailor, I’m actually an accountant!’ I would have thought that even an accountant would have known in Italy, but then again maybe he was also under contract to OK! Tanti auguri, Wayne and Coleen - and don’t worry that it rained. Remember: Sposa bagnata, sposa fortunata. 'A wet bride is a lucky bride'.
