The Daily Telegraph reported over Christmas that they had secured the 'first major interview' with John Whiting since he was appointed as tax director at the Office of Tax Simplification.
According to their report, he commented on the challenges involved in the small business project, particularly those around IR35, the employed/self-employed boundary, and family business taxation.
In particular he thought it unlikely that the OTS would come up with a 'dead easy' solution to IR35; they were more likely to propose some possible ways forward which ministers could choose from.
All of which is very similar to, though in rather less detail than, his REAL 'first major interview' which he gave to Taxation back in August last year...
