There's a marvellous website called spEak You're bRanes, which describes itself as 'a collection of ignorance, narcissism, stupidity, hypocrisy and bad grammar'.
It highlights - and, yes, mocks - the most outlandish remarks posted by contributors to the BBC website's Have Your Say discussions.
It's compelling and hilarious, if a bit scary.
The blog-style site categorises each entry with tags such as 'Curtain Twitchers', 'Racists' (this one appears a lot), 'Werthers Original Imperialists', 'Delusions of Grandeur', 'Credulous Nincompoops' and 'Plain Weird'.
Hard-edged satire it ain't.
There's also the grouping 'Tax Bores', under which I today discovered this item from '[psychoticfool], United Kingdom', who is referring to HMRC:
'A couple of years ago I was told I owed them thousands of pounds, this put me under a great deal of stress, then last year it finally got sorted out and I breathed a huge sigh of relief. Last week I received another letter telling me I again owe them thousands of pounds . I now feel suicidal that it is starting all over again.' (sic)
I'm hope I'm wrong, but this appears to be the sincere words of a self-employed person who's unaware that he/she has to pay taxes every year.
If it is, it ain't too funny.
In fact, it's troubling that such ignorance exists, and - surely! - it reinforces the great need for a clear and widely available taxpayers' charter.
