John Parkinson's book is one of the few books devoted exclusively to captive insurance companies and in this regard is to be welcomed.

The author takes a reasonably logical approach to the topic taking the reader through the various stages of captive formation consideration the actual formation process and the company's subsequent operation. Thus chapter 1 provides an overview and potted history; chapters 2 to 4 look at the reasons for captive formation and the formation process itself; chapter 5 provides a comprehensive list of the management company's duties and responsibilities; and chapters 6 7 and 8 look at the operating procedures captive finances and board procedures and the handling...
