Bill and Alice, who are now in their late 60s, trained as professional artists; Bill lectured in art at the local university whilst Alice looked after the home and family. Over a period of some 40 years, Bill and Alice have assembled a collection of their work, which consists of paintings, sketches and sculptures.
Following Bill's retirement in 1996, they continued with their passion for art and each year produce a number of works which they either add to the collection or sell to supplement their income.

The income from these sales after allowing for expenses such as materials framing costs rent of studio travel etc. has been declared by Bill on the self-employment pages of his tax return.
