New service aimed at new and expanding firms

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are being invited by HMRC to register for regular emails offering digital help and support on tax matters.

The new service is chiefly for those who are new to business or expanding their firm.

Signing up is straightforward: the Revenue does not ask for personal information beyond a name, email address and telephone number.

Once an SME is registered, it will receive about six emails, signposting a range of advice included in videos, interactive tools, factsheets, and online presentations or webinars.

The service is tailored to the level the taxpayer requests and to the business’s likely cycle of tax obligations. The emails will not provide answers to specific questions from signed-up firms.
