Disclosure campaign

HMRC’s latest disclosure campaign is designed to give solicitors the opportunity to bring their affairs up to date on preferential best terms. Relevant taxpayers should complete a notification form or call 0300 013 4749 by 9 March 2015. Participants will have until 9 June to complete a disclosure form and pay outstanding tax.

Relevant taxpayers should complete a notification form or call 0300 013 4749 by 9 March 2015. Participants will have until 9 June to complete a disclosure form and pay outstanding tax.

Employment status

The Office of Tax Simplification published an online survey as part of its review of employment status. The questionnaire is estimated to take 15 minutes to complete.

Corporation tax

HM Treasury and HMRC have published the consultation Tackling Aggressive Tax Planning: Implementing the Agreed G20-Oecd Approach for Addressing Hybrid Mismatch Arrangements. Responses should be emailed by 11 February 2015.

MOSS

HMRC have confirmed that a non-VAT-registered business that can separate its UK sales from its EU sales can voluntarily register the cross-border part and use the registration number to sign-up for MOSS. As a result, the firm’s domestic sales will remain VAT-free.

Helplines

All HMRC 0845 helpline telephone numbers will be out of service by 11 December, after which, taxpayers will be able to use only the department’s 03 helpline numbers.
