The chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, has announced there will be a second 2015 Budget on Wednesday 8 July.

HMRC’s tax avoidance list of withdrawn scheme reference numbers has been updated to include those withdrawn from 13 April 2015.

Taskforce

A new taskforce targeting individuals and organised criminal gangs across the UK believed to have fraudulently claimed repayments, arrested 12 people the day of its launch (14 May 2015). It is expected to recover up to £6m. The department has collected more than £290m as a result of some 90 taskforces launched since 2011.

Monaco TIEA

The UK/Monaco tax information exchange agreement (TIEA) entered into force on 22 April 2015.

Netherlands DTC

The UK/Netherlands double taxation convention (DTC) and protocol in respect of bank taxes entered into force on 30 April and have effect from 1 January 2011. The Bank Levy (Double Taxation Arrangements) (Netherlands) Regulations, SI 2015/344, came into force on 17 March 2015 and have effect from 1 January 2011.

Defaulters

HMRC’s list of deliberate tax defaulters has been updated. The names are published in line with FA 2009, s 94.
