The Treasury has published a consultation seeking views on amending the definition of financial advice. Email comments here by 15 November.

Beneficial ownership

Argentina and Norway have been added to the list of countries that support the initiative to exchange information on beneficial ownership automatically. See here.

Postal exemption

The Postal Services Act 2011 (Taxation) (Amendment) Regulations 2016 indefinitely extend the Department for Business Innovation & Skills (Postal Services Act 2011) Company Ltd’s exemption from corporation tax from to allow for the longer-term sale of the assets after the transfer of the Royal Mail’s pension deficit to the government.
