Increases to £7.05 from 1 April after commission report.
The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy has accepted the Low Pay Commission’s recommendations for increasing the national minimum wage rates from 1 April 2017.
The national living wage, which applies to workers aged 25 and over, will rise from £7.20 to £7.50.
The other changes are:
- the adult hourly rate (for 21 to 24-year olds) will increase from £6.95 to £7.05;
- the rate for 18 to 20-year olds will increase from £5.55 to £5.60;
- the rate for 16 to 17-year olds will increase from £4 to £4.05; and
- the apprentice rate will increase from £3.40 to £3.50.
From the same date, the accommodation offset will increase from the current £6 to £6.40.
