Guidance offered on their tax and employment status.

The Low Incomes Tax Reform Group in partnership with PRISM, a not-for-profit umbrella company representative body, has published a factsheet Working through an Umbrella Company.

It offers guidance on the tax and employment status of people who work through umbrella companies and provides practical tips to help them avoid problems with their pay and deductions.

The factsheet covers a range of matters on which workers are likely to have questions, including holiday entitlement and relief for travel expenses.

A ready reckoner will help workers understand whether the rewards they are offered are equivalent to those they might have otherwise received, after taking into account the various deductions the umbrella company has to make.
