I had the good fortune to be asked to speak at the Accountex exhibition in Manchester last week. As I walked around the stands I was struck by just how fast technology is moving in our industry. Everywhere I looked somebody was demonstrating a new app a new use for cloud accounting or a new piece of integrated software which managed the whole accounting and tax compliance process from beginning to end. There is some impressive work being done and I know that many of us are seeing the benefits that this brings to our working practices. But in talking to fellow practitioners at the event I was also reminded of the fact that there are many clients for whom this electronic world is scary expensive and irrelevant.
