IBC UK Conferences has a number of events planned for May and June.

The Capital Gains Tax Planning Conference will take place on 17 May at the Langham Hilton, London. The speakers are Barry McCutcheon, Chris Whitehouse, Brian Dunk, Francesca Lagerberg, Lindsay Pentelow, Robert Jamieson and Peter Vaines. Subjects to be covered include the Melville scheme, tax treaties, non-resident trusts, matrimonial breakdown and the principal private residence exemption, the substantial shareholding exemption, taper relief, and selling the family business. The attendance fee for this all day conference is £599 plus VAT.

A two-day conference is planned for 20 and 21 June at Hôtel des Bergues, Geneva. Entitled Trancontinental Trusts 2002, the event will be chaired by Barry McCutcheon and Patrick Soares, both of whom will also be speaking. Other speakers include Philip Baker, Mark Herbert QC, Robert Hunter, Paul Matthews, and John Rhodes. The conference looks at regulatory and trust law developments, new tax planning techniques, and other topical matters related to trusts.

The attendance fee is £1,200 plus VAT.

The Private Client Tax Conference 2002 is to be staged on 24 June at the Berkeley Hotel, London. The speakers, Matthew Hutton, Adrian Baird, Kate Howe, Professor Adrian Shipwright, William Massey QC and Jeremy Heal will look at a variety of subjects including a review of the Finance Bill 2002, agricultural and business property reliefs, onshore and offshore trusts, historic houses as a business, pension planning, partnership traps and tenancies and minimising inheritance tax. This is a one day conference and will cost £599 plus VAT to attend.
