The Council of Economics and Finance Ministers has still not reached agreement on the Swiss offer to disclose information upon demand in the case of tax fraud. After some two hours of discussions, the council president concluded that although agreement could not be reached at this meeting, there had been a good deal of progress and that he expected an agreement to be reached at the next Council of Finance Ministers on 21 January 2003.

The European Commission hopes to clarify some small technical details of the arrangements before that date.
