Tax credits


In addition to the £370,000 compensation payments for tax credit errors in 2003-04 already paid (reported in Hansard, 20 July 2004, Vol 424, No 123, col 191W), Ms Primarolo said that later compensation payments up to the end of August amounted to £570,000.


She also said that the Tax Credit Office aimed to reply to 80% of complaints within 15 working days, and was 'on line to achieve this target this year'.

Treasury in charge


The Treasury has assumed responsibility for development of tax policy, working closely with the Inland Revenue and Customs, announced Dawn Primarolo in the House of Commons on 11 October 2004.
