Currency speculation

The Chancellor was asked about its policy on an international speculation tax. Dawn Primarolo replied that there would be 'significant technical problems with a tax' of that sort, and that the Government was not considering imposing such a tax.

Enhanced allowances

The number of companies claiming enhanced capital allowances for 2001-02 was 60, for 2002-03 the number was 848, and for 2003-04 it was 1,412 (although this figure is not final).
