Thank you for your draft of the letter to be sent out in the offshore bank account pilot scheme. We have now started issuing these and you will notice that there were some minor changes from your version. You might find it useful to review them as I think they may illustrate some points of general application as you make the transition from your previous role in the Metropolitan Police to the rather less confrontational approach required by the Civil (sic) Service.
1.    I realise that addressing letters to 'Dear Customer' is not universally popular and agree that the use of 'Dear Taxpayer' might in appropriate circumstances be acceptable. 'Dear Thieving Scumbag' however was not.
