CAAT on the mat

I was amazed to read the statistics on the form 64-8 situation, (Update, Taxation, 12 January 2006, page 357), so I checked the figures in Hansard.
In eight months HMRC processed 778,000 forms, which, assuming a five day week, averages 36 forms per employee per day! I'm not sure what information they have to extract from the forms, but I completed a form 64-8 in under a minute.
