CIOT exam results

The pass list for the May 2006 CTA and ATT examinations have recently been published.


THE PASS LIST for the CIOT's May 2006 examinations has been published. 254 candidates passed the examination out of a total of 587 candidates with 68 being referred. Institute president, John Cullinane, congratulated the successful candidates, saying that 'the CTA qualification is rightly recognised as the “gold standard” within the tax profession'.

Prizewinners

  • The Institute Medal for the best overall performance across all four papers has been awarded to Hannah Fleur Streatfield of Ernst & Young LLP in London. She has also won the CCH Prize for the candidate with the second highest total marks, as well as receiving one of the only two distinctions.
  • The Ian Walker Medal for the candidate with the highest mark in Paper I — General Taxation has been won by Michael Anthony Kearney of KPMG LLP.
  • The Gilbert Burr Medal for the candidate with the highest mark in Paper IIA — General Practice has gone to Louise Dawson of Winster, Windermere who is employed by Saint & Co, Chartered Accountants in Ambleside. She was also awarded the LexisNexis Butterworths Prize for the candidate with the highest total marks and a distinction.
  • Helen Claire Barbara McKie of St Albans where she is employed by Mercer & Hole won the Spofforth Medal for the candidate with the highest mark in Paper IIB — Taxation of Individuals, Trusts and Estates.
  • The John Wood Medal for the candidate with the highest mark in Paper IIC — Companies has been awarded to Edwina Sarah Davis of Bromley, who is employed by Ernst & Young LLP in London.
  • The Victor Durkacz Medal for the candidate with the highest mark in Paper IID — Indirect Taxation went to Rosanna Margaret Phipson of London, where she is employed by Ernst & Young LLP.
  • The Avery Jones Medal for the candidate with the highest mark in Paper III — Interaction of Taxes has been awarded to Elizabeth Jane Bryony Richardson of London, where she is employed by Smith & Williamson Ltd.
  • The Ronald Ison Medal for the candidate with the highest mark in Paper IV — Professional Responsibilities, Ethics and Law went to Jacqueline Emily Butler of Bristol where she is employed by Deloitte LLP.
