THE ASSOCIATION OF Taxation reports that 314 candidates passed the Taxation papers of the examination out of 528, and that 22 distinctions were awarded. Association president, Jean Jesty, congratulated the successful candidates and said that they 'can take pride in the standard that they have achieved, and I send them my warmest congratulations'.
Awards
- The Association Medal for the candidate with the best overall performance has been awarded to Kate Bethan Rees of London, where she is employed by Deloitte LLP.
- The Ivison Medal which is awarded to the candidate with the highest mark in Personal Taxation has gone to Simon Paul Boxall of Uxbridge, where he is employed by Pinkney Keith Gibbs, Chartered Accountants.
- The Jennings Medal is awarded to the candidate with the highest mark in Business Taxation and has been won by Christopher Richard Garraway of Maidenhead, who is employed by Grant Thornton UK LLP in Slough. He also wins The LexisNexis Butterworths Prize which is awarded to the candidate obtaining the highest total mark in the Taxation papers.
Law and accounting
Although not printed here, 447 candidates sat the Principles of Law paper of whom 252 passed (56%) with one candidate receiving the President's Commendation for an excellent performance, and 262 candidates sat the Principles of Accounting paper of whom 205 passed (78%) with ten candidates receiving the President's Commendation for an excellent performance.
