New SME forum
Small business owners and the UK's main business representative organisations have recently held the first of a new series of round table meetings to discuss key issues facing the UK's 4.3 million small and medium-sized enterprises. The new Small Business Forum is designed to provide an informal way for the Government to engage with the small business community and an opportunity to seek the views of individuals and representative groups, on a range of policy issues.

The forum replaces the Small Business Council which was closed in March 2007 as part of a wider Government review of the Small Business Service. Members of the forum include: the CBI, the British Chambers of Commerce, the Institute of Directors, the Federation of Small Businesses, and the Forum of Private Business.
