Federation of Tax Advisers' exams

New FTAs

Over 82% of the entrants in the Federation of Tax Advisers' most recent set of exams passed with an average mark of 69.5%. The FTA tax qualification was launched in 2006, and consists of a six-month study course, followed by a three-hour written exam. In order to pass the exam, candidates must demonstrate an understanding of the working and structure of HMRC, the tax appeals' processes and procedure, and appropriate ways of dealing with HMRC and other relevant statutory authorities. FTA members must then undertake continuing professional development to keep up to date with changes in tax law and practice.
The next set of FTA entry exams will take place in September 2007.
