CIS returns

18 October 2007

HMRC are aware that the effects of the postal strike are likely to cause difficulties for contractors trying file monthly construction industry scheme returns

This is an important deadline because any returns, for October or earlier months, not received by the 19th of this month should incur a penalty.

HMRC say that they will exceptionally, during continuing disruption, accept paper returns at their enquiry centres.

Where returns are not received by 19 October, even though posted in what would normally be good time to meet the deadline, HMRC say they are prepared to consider these cases sympathetically.

Contractors can make nil returns and get further assistance by telephoning the CIS helpline on 0845 366 7899.
