An impressive number of taxpayers submitted their self assessment documentation online over the Christmas and New Year period
An impressive number of taxpayers filed their self assessment returns online over the Christmas and New Year period, as the following HMRC statistics show.
- 25 December 2007: 489
- 26 December 2007: 1,876
- 27 December 2007: 9,622
- 31 December 2007: 10,628
- 1 January 2008: 3,498
- 24 December to 2 January inclusive: 86,482
A total of 1,992,577 returns were received online to 30 December since 6 April 2007. This compares to 1,580,254 online returns received in the same period last year, representing an increase of 26.09%.
