Focuses on implications Budget has on clients' financial affairs

The latest edition of HMRC's Agent Update can now be downloaded from the department's website.

Many of the topics relate to the Chancellor's Budget and the implications it has on clients' financial affairs.

Among these topics are details on the new higher limit for voluntary disclosure of indirect tax errors and information on a common approach to penalties for incorrect tax returns across all taxes and duties.

In addition there is an agent-specific guide on the changes being made to self assessment this year.

It includes details on the new filing dates for self-assessment tax returns design changes to the main tax returns changes for computer-generated paper returns ('substitutes') late filing penalties exceptions and HMRC contact details for agents.

Another item explains that the customer relations managers service for agents is to be extended.
