The rates of the national minimum wage from 1 October 2008 are:
- £5.73 an hour for workers aged 22 years and older;
- £4.77 an hour for workers aged 18-21 inclusive (development rate);
- £3.53 an hour for all workers under the age of 18, who are no longer of compulsory school age;
- accommodation offset — £4.46 a day (£31.22 a week).
