Death of tax veteran known as 'Wizard'

It is with much sadness that Taxation records that Jeremy de Souza died on 8 March 2009. 

His funeral service was held in Winchester Cathedral on 26 March where a eulogy was given by Geoffrey Richards of Farrers solicitors the firm that Jeremy joined as an articled clerk in 1967.

While at Farrers Jeremy advised on difficult tax and related issues on a number of great estates as well as on tax problems and planning for businesses including professional partnerships.

Geoffrey explained that such was Jeremy’s reputation – even before joining the firm – that he was known affectionately to many of his office colleagues as ‘the Wizard’.

Jeremy had been a solicitor since 1970 and became a partner at Farrers in 1976 remaining with the firm until 1999 when he became a consultant at the Winchester law firm White & Bowker.
