A new Working Together e-group launched today by Taxation, in conjunction with AccountingWEB and HMRC, will operate alongside the local groups that have thrived over the past few years, and will refer the issues it identifies in the same way.
The aim is to help improve areas of the Revenue’s functioning for the benefit of all who deal with the department. Readers are invited to join to identify and discuss issues stemming from systemic HMRC operational problems.
To highlight a widespread predicament, email Taxation’s online editor, Daniel Selwood, and include ‘Working Together’ as part of the subject line. He will post all relevant messages online and then encourage others to remark in a positive fashion, thereby taking the matter forward.
'We would encourage readers to consider getting involved with a local group first, ' said Taxation editor Mike Truman.
'The new e-group will not be an easier option compared to the more established Working Together groups, but it will allow agents who are not members of the main professional bodies to more easily have their say.'
Brian Redford of the Revenue’s business customer unit remarked that the department was ‘delighted to be joining forces with Taxation/AccountingWEB’.
He added, ‘This new e-group is a natural extension to the valuable work already being carried out by our local Working Together groups. We anticipate some valuable learning from extending the Working Together model online.’
