The third update of this guide completed in December 2010 reflects the substantial impact of the changes introduced by the Finance Acts of last year.

Following further alterations to the lifetime limit announced in the 2011 Budget the book needs revamping further. Given the number of recent rules changes perhaps the author should consider an online version which could be amended more easily.

It begins by mentioning that the basic concept of entrepreneurs’ relief (ER) is simple and straightforward but the statutory provisions are complex. Reading the guide in its entirety you get a feel for the complexity of the rules and how confusing some of them are. It is hard to absorb all the finer details in one go.
