We tried recently to file a corporation tax return and accounts online. Our submission was rejected. It appeared that there was a problem with the tagged accounts though we could see nothing at all wrong with them.

It transpired that the ‘error’ here was that the balance sheet date was shown as 31 OCTOBER 2010 and that this was unacceptable to HMRC: instead the date had to be shown as 31 October 2010.

This is sheer madness!
