Lecturers, teachers, instructors or those in similar capacity

HMRC have launched a consultation on the categorisation for National Insurance purposes of those who work as lecturers, teachers and in similar roles.

The document is entitled Lecturers, Teachers, Instructors or those in a Similar Capacity: in Relation to the Social Security (Categorisation of Earners) Regulations 1978 and the Social Security (Categorisation of Earners) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1978.

HMRC have concluded that the regulations relating to lecturers, teachers, instructors or those in a similar capacity are no longer necessary. The department proposes to repeal them with effect from 6 April 2012.

Responses are invited and should be sent by email no later than 6 January 2012.
