Workers and employers in the tax sector have been offered a boost by the results of the latest UK salary survey from recruitment firm Pure, which has tentatively predicted a rise in staffing levels.

Workers and employers in the tax sector have been offered a boost by the results of the latest UK salary survey from recruitment firm Pure, which has tentatively predicted a rise in staffing levels.

It notes that recent global economic uncertainty saw a greater public examination of large businesses’ affairs and whether or not they are paying the appropriate amount of corporation tax. The situation led to a re-examination of the tax function, with professionals having not only to possess strong technical knowledge but also needing to be commercially minded with wide international experience.

The report – available with this week's print editon of Taxation – suggests that increased confidence and stability in the UK will “drive recruitment activity further”, and it cautiously expects to see “some growth return to the tax recruitment market, both in-house and in the professional firms”.
