Bad news in the government’s response to its consultation on liberalising pensions

This job makes you so cynical. On the other hand if political spin doctors didn’t live down to my low expectations maybe I would be more trusting.

As it was when I heard George Osborne had been trumpeting the right to impartial guidance on breakfast TV several hours before the response to the consultation Freedom and Choice in Pensions was published I waited for the other shoe to drop when the response finally came out.

And drop it did later that day with a clatter of not-so-welcome news.
