  • Queen’s speech proposes a “one nation” approach helping working people get on supporting aspiration.
  • Those working for 30 hours a week on the national minimum wage will not pay income tax.
  • A “five-year lock” for income tax VAT and National Insurance rates.

“My government will legislate in the interests of everyone in our country. It will adopt a one nation approach helping working people get on supporting aspiration giving new opportunities to the most disadvantaged and bringing different parts of our country together.”

With these words the Queen started her speech to both houses of parliament last week.
