Autumn statement

The Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond will present his first autumn statement to parliament on 23 November. The government is keen to have ideas from the public for measures to be included in the statement. Suggestions should be submitted by 7 October using the Treasury’s online survey or as an emailed file attachment (see here).

 

Finance Act

The Finance Bill received royal assent on 15 September and is now Finance Act 2016.

 

Lifetime ISA

The Treasury has published a technical note and factsheet explaining how the lifetime individual savings account will work.

 

VAT

Notices 700/25: taxis and private hire cars and 700/1: should I be registered for VAT?  have been amended. They cancel and replace the May 2002 and June 2016 versions respectively.
