Put your client admin in motion
Here is another reminder to respond to HMRC’s Making Tax Digital consultations by 7 November. The changes will have far-reaching effects including to employers as the latest Employer Bulletin explains (page 4).
Be on the lookout for pension liberation scams to ensure that clients are not caught out by them – the consequences are costly. There is a lot of information about them on The Pensions Regulator website (tinyurl.com/hth8tpu) (page 7).
In Axel Kittel v Belgian State v Recolta Recycling SPRL the EU Court of Justice set out the principle that a VAT input claim might be denied if it was known or should have been known that there was a fraudulent connection. Don’t forget to respond to the VAT penalty consultation document (pages 8 and 10).
