Small and medium-sized businesses should consider in light of upcoming tax changes and reforms.

From base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) reforms Brexit and ‘Trumponomics’ to common consolidated corporate tax base proposals the business environment has been getting ever more complex in the past year or so. While the destination is not clear the certainty is that considerable change in the business environment is likely in the next few years and it is possible that tax reform will be front and centre.

 

International tax issues

Until mid-2016 the G20 countries were coordinating their approach to taxation and trying to upgrade tax systems that had been left behind by modern business practice. Now the UK which was trying to be an early adopter of the BEPS reform says it could become a tax haven if Brexit negotiations go badly and is contemplating leaving the customs union as well as the EU.
