Online option launched for appeals through HM Courts and Tribunals Service

New service to submit appeals for indirect taxation disputes.

The new HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) tax appeal online service allows taxpayers to submit an appeal online if they wish to challenge HMRC decisions on indirect tax excise duty and customs duty. 
Features of the new service (tinyurl.com/y8fg3mla) include:
 
  • the individual can lodge an appeal and receive an acknowledgement with a reference number in one step;
  • the lodgement process provides an option to upload documents saving on postal costs;
  • the creation of the ‘save and return’ function allows the individual to save and revisit an appeal lodgement if they need to find further information allowing them to return to their application later; and
  • online lodgement guarantees the information will be validated when it is entered on the system. As a result applications...
