Paper returns

The deadline for paper self-assessment tax returns for 2016-17 is 31 October. After that forms must be submitted online by 31 January.

 

Enablers

Draft guidance on new legislation for enablers of defeated tax avoidance schemes has been published. Comments should be emailed to ca.consultation@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk by 30 November.

 

Lenders

Three entries have been added to the list of mortgage providers and lenders who accept an SA302 tax calculation and a tax year overview.

 

Offshore matters

Factsheet CC/FS17: higher penalties for offshore matters has been updated to cover the requirement to supply additional information about advisers or enablers in relation to offshore matters and the new offshore asset-based penalties from April 2017.
