UK tax regime is attractive despite Brexit uncertainties

Survey confirms its place as one of the most competitive tax regimes.

The UK has retained its place as one of the world’s most competitive tax regimes according to the KPMG Tax Competitiveness Survey 2018.

The firm interviewed senior tax decision-makers at 77 of the UK’s largest listed companies and subsidiaries of multinationals and a further 58 non-UK companies from the G7 nations. The findings show that although the overall appeal of the UK’s tax regime has weakened the perception of many rival jurisdictions has also diminished over the past year.

The UK was considered second to Ireland as having the most competitive tax system in the world.However among the non- UK companies surveyed the UK sits in joint fifth place with Switzerland behind Luxembourg Singapore Netherlands and Ireland which retains the top position.
