When I started as a trainee accountant with what later became Ernst & Young the most senior woman in the Manchester office was a newly-qualified audit senior. Over 40 years later there are far more senior women to be seen – and I hope I’ve helped to contribute to that particularly with my involvement with Women in Tax.

I soon decided that tax was more interesting and intellectually challenging than auditing so moved to the tax department as soon as I’d passed my ACA exams.
