Election delays loan charge review

The report on the independent loan charge review is to be delayed until a new government is in place after the general election. Under its terms of reference the review would have had to report by mid-November. 

On 5 November the financial secretary to the Treasury Jesse Norman wrote to the leader of the independent loan charge review Sir Amyas Morse saying that in light of the government voting for a general election a new government would not be in place until mid-December. Citing Cabinet Office guidance on the decisions that can be made in a pre-election period he said ‘ministers have agreed that it would be most appropriate for your report to be submitted to the new government on its formation’.
