Employment allowance

The number of employers claiming the employment allowance fell slightly in 2018-19 to 1.175 million from 1.178 million the previous year. Almost a third are based in two regions with London having the most employers at 18%.

Child trust funds

HMRC is consulting on two sets of draft regulations to ensure that funds in maturing child trust fund accounts can retain their tax-advantaged status after September 2020 and when transferred to an individual savings account (ISA) will be disregarded for the purposes of the annual ISA subscription limit. Comments should be submitted by 11 August.
